About our reviews

Our working method

Frolvina is an independent editorial publication covering resort hotels and entertainment destinations across the northeastern tribal and commercial resorts. We assess properties, publish scores, and explain the reasoning; we do not sell rooms, take commission on bookings, or accept payment for placement.

Independence is structural rather than declared. No property in this catalogue has paid to appear, none has been given sight of its review before publication, and none can have a criticism removed.

How we work
Editorial inspection at a resort in Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts
Each assessment covers the room product, the service layer, and the dining programme.

The rubric behind each score

Six categories carry fixed weights in our scoring model. Applying the same weights everywhere is what makes one property's score meaningful against another's.

25%Major impact

Casino and gaming lounges

Layout legibility, lounge comfort, table variety, air handling, and how the floor feels at its busiest hour.

20%High impact

Guest rooms

Sound insulation, bedding, bathroom condition, storage, climate control, housekeeping consistency, and outlook.

20%High impact

Front-of-house service

Check-in speed, concierge competence, language coverage, request handling, and recovery when something goes wrong.

15%Moderate impact

Food and beverage

Range across price points, kitchen consistency, breakfast quality, in-room dining hours, and wine list depth.

10%Supporting impact

Position and transit

Distance to the airport, walkability, transit links, parking provision, and what surrounds the property.

10%Supporting impact

Rate against delivery

Total cost including resort fees and parking, measured against what the property actually delivers.

Destinations

Destination overview

The northeastern market pairs two of the largest tribal resorts in the world with a newer generation of commercial properties in Boston and Springfield. Scale here is measured in hotel towers rather than gaming floor alone.

Questions

Questions about this catalogue

How often are reviews updated?

We revisit a listing after a refurbishment, an ownership change, or a run of reader feedback that contradicts the current score.

What if something here is wrong?

Send the property name and the specific error to [email protected]. We verify every report and update the page when it stands up.

Do you cover properties outside this region?

We publish on the northeastern tribal and commercial resorts exclusively in this edition, and only add a property once the full rubric has been applied to it.

What does the score actually mean?

A score is a weighted comparison within this region, not a verdict. An 8.5 property may suit your trip better than a 9.4 one, depending on what you need.

Can I book through this site?

No. We are an editorial publication. Enquiry forms on this site are relayed to the property's own reservations desk, and any contract you enter is with the hotel, not with Frolvina.

Is placement sponsored?

Placement is never for sale. Every score is produced by the same rubric, and no resort can influence a rating commercially.
